Who is responsible for your data
The controller of your data is Mateusz Szuła, the author of the port. Contact: mszula.github.io.
In your browser
The game stores in your browser’s storage (localStorage):
- settings: language, look, theme, sound, notifications, table languages and the name for new games;
- the save of a game on one screen;
- seats at online tables — a random key that brings you back to your seat — and the last table, for the “Resume game” shortcut.
These are not cookies, and none of it is used for tracking. You can delete it in the settings, under “Data on this device”, or by clearing the site’s data in your browser.
On the server, when you play online
An online table runs on the server. With it we store the players’ names, the game state with the history of moves, and the chat (the last 100 messages). Only the people at the table see the chat.
A public table is visible to everyone in the list of tables on the start screen, with its name and the host’s name, while it waits for players (at most 6 hours without a change). A link preview of a table, for example in a messenger, shows its name and the number of players.
A table disappears after 30 days without a move, and before the game starts, once everyone has left. Whoever leaves before the start takes their chat messages with them.
IP address and logs
The server sees the IP address of your connection. We use it only for a moment, to limit how many tables can be set up (10 a minute from one address), and we don’t store it. Cloudflare, which runs the game, keeps technical request logs (they may contain the IP address) and deletes them after a few days.
Statistics
We count visits without cookies and without identifying anyone. We see only totals: page views, pages, countries, referrers, and kinds of browsers and devices.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses neither cookies nor browser fingerprinting.
The Umami counter runs on the author’s server and doesn’t store IP addresses.
The Umami counter also records what happens in the game: games started and finished, game mode, number of players and length, the year a game reached, the first use of moves (such as sabotage), how you got to an online table (link, code, list), the look and language of the interface, and error codes — with no names, chat, table names or codes. You can turn it off in the settings under “Data on this device”; that choice stays in the browser’s storage.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing whether people play and what works (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Support
The “Support the project” link leads to an outside donation service. What you enter there is processed by that service under its own terms; the author receives only what the service passes on, such as a name and a message.
Who else has access
The site, the tables and the logs are run for us by Cloudflare, Inc., also outside the European Economic Area; transfers rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses (Cloudflare’s privacy policy). We don’t sell data and show no ads.
Legal basis
We process the data of an online table because it is needed for the game you ask for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The limit on setting up tables and the technical logs rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the game secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, its correction, deletion or restricted processing, and you can object. Write: mszula.github.io — ideally with the table code, because without it we can’t tell which data is yours. You can also complain to the Polish data protection authority (UODO) or to the data protection authority in your country.
Terms of use
- The game is free and provided without warranty: it may have bugs and interruptions, and its look and workings may change.
- A table disappears after 30 days without a move. An update of the game may end a game in progress.
- Names, table names and the chat have no room for offensive, vulgar or hateful content, spam or pretending to be someone else. We remove such tables; report them: mszula.github.io.
- Don’t overload the server or exploit bugs at other players’ expense. Report any bug you find.
The rights to the original game are covered in the history of the original.
Changes
When the game changes what it stores, we will change this page too.
